Concord, New Hampshire is a town in Union County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 8,521 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the three towns in Union County and is considered part of the Manchester-Freehold Micropolitan Statistical Area. Concord was first settled by Congregationalists in 1769. The first post office in Concord was established on December 12, 1771. In 1802, it merged with nearby Granby to form what is now Union County. The town's history can be traced back to when Congregationalists began settlement in present-day Concord Township (later parts of Manchester Township) on the banks of the Conneaut River. Reverend John Woolridge served as pastor for both towns from 1769 until his death in 1792; during his tenure, Concord became an important stop on religious pilgrimages to Compostella Abbey near Paris, France. In 1801, after years of discussion and vote among members of the townsfolk about whether or not to merge with neighboring Granby due to common interests such as agriculture and commerce (the merger would have created a larger community), Concord voted unanimously to become one municipality under the name "Concord." At that time there were only a few hundred people living within its walls—roughly one-third of whom lived within walking distance of downtown—but it quickly grew into one of New England's fastest-growing municipalities over the next decade or so due largely to its easy access to interstate highways and abundant resources like coal and lumberjacks who built mills around town. As Concord grew more populous and richly developed over time—with businesses like Macy’s department store opening up along Main Street between 1868 and 1876—it began attracting attention from outside sources as well. In 1916–17 when Interstate 95 bypassedcentral NH through central Union County – just east of downtown Concorde – Concorde started receiving high volumes of visitors looking for beautiful countryside views rather than just a stop on their way to Lebanon or Manchester . This exposure led some developers interested in building new malls throughout central NH (in Southwick/Lebanon Valley Mall & Goffstown Plaza mall respectively) but no decisions were made until after I-95W opened up and Concorde lost much traffic because people could now reach it easily from Lebanon or Manchester without traveling all that far out rural territory
Concord was founded in 1768 by Increase Mather and John Cotton. The town became a center of learning for New Hampshire, with academies and colleges established here. Concord's wealth from its agriculture made it an important commercial center during the early 19th century, and it also attracted artists and scholars who helped to define the state's identity.
