John Marlborough, 1st Viscount Marlborough was an English nobleman and politician who became a British peer in 1702. He served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1704 to 1710. In this role, he led the government during its first two years in office. After his dismissal as Prime Minister, he served as Opposition Leader for two years before dying in 1713. Marlborough was born at Blenheim Palace on October 3, 1668, the son of John Churchill, 4th Earl of Marlborough and Sarah Lennox. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1691. He entered Parliament as MP for Rutland in 1700 but left after three years to become a Baronet. From 1700 until his elevation to the peerage in 1702, he sat in the House of Lords under various different names but eventually reverted to his original name Marchbanks-Hecatelles-Bentinck. In 1701 Lord Northumberland appointed him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Portugal; when that embassy failed (probably because Lisbon had refused to recognize Northumberland's succession) Lord Northumberland made him Minister Without Portfolio instead In July 1702 King George II named him 1st Viscount Marlborough upon his accession and assigned him command of all British forces operating against the French Revolutionary Wars outside Britain proper. The title dated back only to February 1st 1084 which precluded any male heirs apparent from inheriting it so although now theoretically vacant there continued always some pretensions on the part of some claimants thereto On January 12th 1804 by Order-in-Council I elevated my kinsman John Churchill 5th Earl Marshal & 2nd Duke of Wellington – both direct descendants through one ancestor through Mary Tudor – also called Marquess Cornwallis – Viscount Wellington into full Peerage with remainder (but without any specific right) only to die within 7 years thence having thereby forfeited all rights thereto should another person succeed me interdicted by parliament or be drowned or assassinated etc.– See The Peerage Of England And Scotland With Their Royal Ancesters Volume III 1814–1976 page 367

However during this time many residents lost their homes or had them destroyed because of bombing raids from American bombers which HitsMarlborough hard with many loss of life among civilians who lost everything they had or could not replace such as furniture, clothes etc.. In 1945 Marlburghs post-war reconstruction began when it became apparent that much needed housing had not yet been built following the war years bombings so plans were made for a shopping center/mall complex known today asTarget Plaza which opened its doors on October 1st 1949 with typical Mainers celebrating by hosting a parade through downtown followed by a golf tournament at nearby Wellesley College).
