Auburn, Maine is home to one of the oldest shooting protection programs in the United States. The history of this program dates back to 1864 when an act was passed by the Maine Legislature that required all citizens to purchase and use a rifle or shotguns with at least 24 rounds of ammunition. This law became effective on July 1, 1864. To date, Auburn has been responsible for training over 2,500 individuals in how to safely shoot firearms. These skills have helped reduce firearm accidents and homicides statewide by 50% since 1978. In addition, due to our extensive gun safety curriculum and NRA certification requirements, we are able to offer unique opportunities for personal training for law enforcement officers and their families as well as civilians who wish to learn how to shoot responsibly. Auburn is a town in Maine, United States. The population was 5,526 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest municipality in Maine. Auburn was founded on October 7, 1822 by Captain James Purdy and his men as a trading post on the Penobscot River. The first town meeting in Auburn took place on December 8, 1824. On October 7, 1822, Captain James Purdy and his men founded Auburn as a trading post on the Penobscot River after finding it difficult to find a location for an indigenous village due to its rough terrain. The town grew rapidly due to trade with other parts of New England and Canada. The first store was built in 1830 and soon afterwards realized that it would be impossible to provide goods alone and so began the founding of mills which manufactured paper products such as hats, ropes and sails for ships along the Penobscot River. In 1834 two sawmills were erected within walking distance of each other making it possible for people from both towns to sell goods directly to customers instead of going through merchants who had their own stores. In 1865 two churches were constructed - First Baptist Church (later known as Stroudsburg Baptist Church) which was built by Hiram Pringle and later additions were made including a schoolhouse in 1870; then Second Baptist Church (later known as Parkdale Methodist Episcopal Church). Due to changes in farming methods during World War II many businesses closed down but some have since reopened including Hudsons Drugstore which replaced an earlier store that burned down in 1951; Snow Plow Service which replaced an earlier business that also went out of business; Tim Horton’s Coffee Shop which replaced an earlier business that also went out of business;VEGAS BAR & GRILLS which replaced an earlier restaurant that also went out of business Also during this time much development occurred around downtown with new streets being dug/painted/altered etc.. This included building what is now known as the “Auburn Civic Center” built between 1954-1957 consisting of a parkland area north of Main Street flanked by four buildings: Administration Building south side facing Main Street; Business Building east side facing University Avenue; Social Services Building west side facing University Avenue After World War II there was significant growth throughout Auburn due largely to Interstate 95 however several struggling businesses failed during this time including Dooley’s Pharmacy (closed 1991), Valley Tire & Rubber Co.(closed 1984), Jernigan’s Hardware(closed 1990) In recent years there has been some resurgence with efforts being made by city leaders such as Mayor Rick Bennett (2006-present)to attract more inward investment into town while maintaining core cultural aspects such as art galleries, music events etc.; recent developments include Home Depot moving into downtown from across Route 128 just south of Main Street in early 2009 followed by Lowe's joining forces with City Hall creating what is now called "Auburn Plaza" across from I-95 near Exit 4 . There are currently plans underway for another sister store - Lowes having announced plans for construction beginning early next year on land adjacent to southwest corner High School lot [See below] - bringing the total number of stores located within one mile radius up To 8
Shooting protection history goes back many years and its inception can be traced back to the days of firearms. When pistols were initially designed, they were not specifically made for shooting protection. There was no need for it as handguns were originally meant to be used in a manual way and not with all of the recoil that a firearm may produce. However, over time, shooters have started using handgun protectors in order to reduce the amount of recoil caused by firing a pistol. The first handgun protector was created in 1892 when J.B.Saunders patented his invention called the Pistol Grip Safety Device (PGSD). The PGSD was an adjustable grip safety that served as a buffer between the shooter and the gun barrel when carrying or firing a pistol. This device helped reduce muzzle shock which could cause serious injury or even death if it occurred while shooting at close range. In 1911, another inventor named Arthur Blank developed an add-on safety device to the Glock pistol called the “Blank” trigger puller safety system. This system allowed shooters to engage and fire any cartridge without having their hands come into contact with either barrel or trigger guard, which would then prevent accidental shootings on busy streets or during crowded events. The use of this type of safety became popular among law enforcement officers and target shooters who relied on quick draw techniques while engaging criminals or other predators in close quarters combat conditions. By 1935, shotgun manufacturers had begun developing similar handgun protectors known as “choke tubes” which served as an insert between platform handgrip and stock on shotguns equipped with 12 gauge shells only. These devices relieved some of the recoil from firing shotguns by reducing pressure on internal barrels caused by passage of hot lead ammunition through choke tubes located near flash suppressors on rifle barrels

Auburn, Maine is a small town located in Penobscot County, Maine. Auburn was first settled by English colonists in 1642. The town was founded on the site of what is now the downtown core of Auburn. In 1812, the town was renamed after General Andrew Jackson and it became an incorporated town in 1868. The population of Auburn peaked at 9,898 in 1910 and declined to 6,913 in 2000. However, thetown has seen a recent resurgence with its population increasing to 7,512 as of 2018. It is one of only two towns in Penobscot County that have experienced a population increase since 2000. The other town is Bangor. Auburn’s oldest building still standing on the campus of Bradley University was built in 1824 and is still used today for classes and research purposes. The first store opened here on Main Street in 1827 and continued to operate until 1903 when it closed due to lack of customers or competition from local stores that had been open longer than Auburn’s store. After years of planning by school trustees and community members, plans were drawn up for a new store which would be located on State Street between Commercial Avenue and School Street near the current day library building (now called “The Commons”). Construction began on this project in 1959 but due to funding shortages the store never opened; it reopened as part of Bradley University’s expansion into downtown Auburn during the 1990s once again serving as an anchor tenant along with several smaller businesses including a hair salon/beauty shop/dentist office complex (now known as “The Square”) across School Street from the old courthouse which served as both Municipal Court House and Town Hall until 2009 when it closed down because its structural integrity had deteriorated significantly since being constructed 80 years earlier! Today there are several restaurants within walking distance of central downtown including Puddletown Tavern which serves traditional New England cuisine such as lobster bisque gravy with potatoes or macaroni & cheese; China Bites appetizer plates featuring Various Chinese Dishes starting at $4; Lighthouse Pizza ($) providing delivery service within walking distance; Plus numerous small businesses dotting every nook and cranny inside Central Park located just east off First Ave between Commercial Ave & Main St., home shopping centers abound with chains like Sears (), JC Penney (), Macy's (), Bass Pro Shops () vernacular stores abound such as Goodwill () also locate throughout Downtown Auburn providing significant retail potential for future development!
