On February 16th, 1948 Hurricane Ike passed through Morgan City with devastating effects including rough winds that downed trees and power lines throughout most of the community; however there were no any losses reported within Morgan City or adjacent parishes due to this storm. An effort has been made over recent years to restore some of what was lost in Katrina but much more remains to be done including repairing infrastructure such as bridges and roads which have been extensively damaged or destroyed in previous storms such as Rita/Katrina & Harvey/ Irma etc... In addition much work needs to be done on Cemetery facilities which have seen significant neglect in recent years..... Overall it seems that many things have not yet been restored or updated since Katrina so there are many areas where residents need help if they want their community back up and running like it used to be!
