Greensburg, Indiana is a town in Butler County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from an early settler named Green who bought land there in 1814. Greensburg is located on the southern edge of Butler County and is bordered by the towns of Carmel and Noblesville to the west and east. The first thing that settlers did when they arrived in what would become Greensburg was build homes. By 1814, Green had already purchased over 100 acres (40 ha) of land in what is now Butler County and started building homes. At that time, the area around present-day Greensburg was sparsely populated with just a few scattered farms and settlements. But within 10 years or so, other farmers had started arriving to purchase land around Green's home base - which became known as "Greensburg Township." During this early period, most people in Greensburg were engaged in agriculture or stock raising. However, some began developing businesses such as a store or schoolhouse; these earliest businesses are still active today. In 1837, Green built his second home - this one called "The Gables" - which served as his headquarters for many years until he sold it off for farm acreage south of town in 1957. After selling his holdings here, Green returned to live primarily near his original home until his death in 1912. In those days before telephone service existed in rural areas like Butler County (and even more so back then), residents relied on mail order services to get their goods and services delivered directly to their homes! This service originated from Mr. John Denton who operated a small post office at milepost 7 on U S Hwy 50 between Carmel Junction and Noblesville about two miles northeast of greensburg (the current site of Carmel). Residents would send items such as foodstuffs or newspapers via mail order to their friends and family back east...usually taking weeks or even months to arrive at their doorsteps! When folks moved away from rural life during the mid-19th century cities were becoming more popular due to advances in transportation technology! So too did farmers move into cities because they could no longer rely on traditional means like horseback riding or wagon travel for getting goods and services into their neighborhoods...instead they needed only electric vehicles! And so it was that by 1925 Greensburgh had its first electric streetcar line! There really wasn't anything special about this particular streetcar line except that it traveled through one of our most important agricultural communities...greensburgh being just across I- 55 from Indianapolis!!! Today almost every household has either cell phone service or internet access thanks to ubiquitous electronicsidespread use throughout society including but not limited to: cars/trucks/planes etc…and yes we have green energy Options available but not all are affordable

This cooperation fostered a strong sense of community among these early settlers who had to share their resources with one another. The first store in Greensburg opened its doors in 1824. By 1850, local entrepreneurs had established two churches – one Protestant and one Catholic – as well as two schools: one for children and one for adults. The town also became known for its cheese production until around 1880 when it switched to milk production. In 1898-99, Greensburg hosted the Indiana State Fair which helped drive tourism into the town’s economy. By 1920, Greensburg had become an important stop on stagecoach routes between Indianapolis and Chicago; it also served as a hub for trade between rural areas across Harrison County. During World War II, Greensburg played an important role in providing military support to our country; its citizens volunteered extensively both before and after the war boom that ensued following America’s victory over Japan (1946). Afterward, many of these same individuals decided to stay in Greenburgh throughthe post-war period; some even built additional homes hereabouts during this time frame! gentrification has recently begun to take hold within our borders with growth coming from neighboring towns such as Carmel (population ~4000), Brownsville (population ~6000) & Lafayette (population ~10500). However despite this recent influx of people into our city limits - all without giving much thought towards preserving or enhancing our unique historical fabric - most native Alabamians are still unaware of how deeply rooted our community actually is within this great state!
