Warrenville, Illinois is a city of over sixty thousand people located in the far north side of the state of Illinois. The population was only thirteen thousand at the time of its incorporation in 1871, but by 1907 it had reached seventy-five thousand. With an area of just under one square mile, Warrenville never developed into an urban center like Chicago or Milwaukee did, but it has kept up its reputation as being one of the most important industrial centers in the state. One reason for this prominence is that Warrenville has been home to two leading equipment manufacturers since before World War II: GE and Westinghouse. In addition to their production plants for turbines, generators and other electrical equipment, these companies also manufactured radios and other electronic devices. Their products were so popular that they continue to be made today by various companies across many industries. In fact, GE alone has produced more than two hundred different types of high capacity kits since 1920 – making Warrenville one of the most prolific producer cities in America. Many of these products have been exported to countries all over the world; indeed, GE’s product line still includes several types of high capacity kits that are not available anywhere else. As technology changed during World War II and new strains emerged in warfare, GE responded with new designs for high capacity kit manufacturing plants. One such plant was built on a former munitions factory near downtown Warrenvillle – now known as Park Plaza Center. Warrenville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,694 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Warrenville was Cyrus Warner who arrived in 1824. The community was named for General Winfield Scott and his family, who had recently come from Virginia to help settle the land around Chicago. The Scott home still stands today and is a museum open to the public. In 1868, Mrs. Rebecca Eaton built a large frame house on what is now State Street in Warrenville, which became known as the Eaton House Museum. During this time, many other families also moved into the town and it quickly grew into an incorporated village with its own government and school system. In 1902, Warrenville merged with neighboring South Holland to form one municipality called South Holland-Warrenville Township (later Cook County). On January 1, 1907 (the date of incorporation), Warrenvillians voted to change their name to Warrenville-South Holland Township because they felt that it better reflected their unique location within Cook County as well as their affiliation with South Holland Village (and later South Holland Township) since they had been part of that municipality since before its merger into Warrenville-South Holland Township. The name change applied only to municipal purposes and did not affect any of the individual businesses or residences located within either township nor did it create any new police or fire departments; these functions were assumed by both municipalities until 1978 when they were divided again under separate but concurrent jurisdiction when Cook County created its First Districts - which included all of Northwestern Illinois including WarrenvilieTownship along with most of Du Page County (except for Kaneohe)) Warrenvilie has seen some significant changes over its history including becoming home to several high profile residents such as Billionaire Carl Icahn and Mayor Richard Meehan Today there are more than 100 businesses operating in downtownWarrenvillie including restaurants such as Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks as well as office space for a variety of industries such as technology companies, medical devices manufacturers and more Downtown also houses two libraries which together total over 350 titles covering both fiction and nonfiction Additionally there are several parks dotting downtown streets including North Parkade which offers views of Lake Michigan while Millennium Park features natural areas perfect for children There are also several art galleries available throughout downtownWarrnville includng Sideshow Bob'sgallery & Stickney Gallery
