The first white settlers in Round Lake were John and Martha Round who arrived there around 1836. There were four other families that also came toRound Lake between 1837 and 1840: David Peterson, Marye Weiser, Jacob Weiser and Jonathan Weiser. All these families left because they found that their land would be too poor for them to maintain any type of farming operation. But despite this early setback, John Round persevered and he eventually established himself as one of the most successful farmers in the area. He started out by selling his own crops but soon realized that he could not do it alone; he needed help from others in order to make his operations work well. So he started hiring local men to help him with planting, harvesting and fencing his land - all while still looking out for his own interests. John Round's neighbor Andrew Donahue helped him get started on this path when he first moved into the area around 1830-31; together they formed a partnership which lasted until Donahue's death in 1865. Donahue had been born near Round Lake so he knew all about its history and culture firsthand - both good things for business because it made him very reliable when it came to supplies (he always had enough food). And even though John Rounds' farm prospered initially due to this long-term alliance with Donahue (and others), eventually rivalry set in as each man tried to gain an edge over their neighbors - sometimes through legal means or simply by taking advantage of their geographical location (situated along two major rivers). This competition wasn't always healthy for either side; often times it led to violence or even economic decline for those involved. However, ultimately round lake residents learned howto work together effectively through common goals - like developing better transportation options or creating new industries (like manufacturing) which grew out of necessity rather than greed or envy - so these events never really affected them much beyond superficial damage control behavior... until recently!
